As it turns out the road goal Tottenham allowed at White Hart Lane didn’t matter, as Fiorentina scored two second-half goals to send Mauricio Pochettino’s men out of the Europa League with a 2-0 (3-1 aggregate) win in Italy on Thursday.

Mario Gomez scored in the 54th minute and Mohamed Salah netted less than 20 later as La Viola used home field to its advantage, moving on to the Round of 16.

The shots may’ve been even, but Spurs had 2/3 possession for much of the night. But they could not find a winner despite the 63rd minute introductions of Harry Kane and Andros Townsend.

Both Russian sides advanced earlier in the day, as Zenit Saint Petersburg eliminated PSV Eindhoven 3-0 (4-0 on aggregate), while Dinamo Moscow knocked out Anderlecht 3-1. Celtic was eliminated by Inter Milan in a 1-0 loss.
