Veteran Dutch attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaert will not be extended by Hamburg, and is being sought by teams in several leagues including Major League Soccer’s Sporting KC.
The 109-times capped Netherlands player will be surplus to Hamburg’s desires come this summer. Van der Vaert was on the World Cup provisional roster for Louis van Gaal, but withdrew with a calf injury.

Surely Dom Dwyer would be excited about this, though it would put a crimp in any DP plans he had. Being on the receiving end of balls from Graham Zusi and Van der Vaert would up his value considerably.
KC only has two Designated Players -- Matt Besler and Zusi -- and RVDV would be a nice match provided the money works for both parties. That said, he’ll still have plenty of options across Europe, so it’s merely a competition at this point.
