Terrence Shannon Jr. amassed 21 points (7-of-13 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), seven rebounds, one assist and three three-pointers in Friday’s Game 6 loss to the Spurs.
Out of the rotation for most of the regular season, Shannon took on a more prominent role during the postseason out of necessity. He finished Game 6 with his second 20-point game, the first being Minnesota’s series-clincher against the Nuggets. With Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) injured and Mike Conley hitting free agency, there may be room for Shannon to take on a more prominent role in 2026-27, even if the Timberwolves re-sign Ayo Dosunmu. Shannon will be worth taking a flier on in standard league drafts.

Terrence Shannon Jr. (head) is available for Friday’s Game 6 against the Spurs.
Shannon is good to go after being included on the injury report due to a head contusion. The second-year wing will provide depth off the bench, with the Timberwolves needing a win to extend the series.

Terrence Shannon Jr. (concussion) is questionable for Friday’s Game 6 against the Spurs.
If Shannon Jr. is forced to sit out a win-or-go-home Game 6, Minnesota could shorten its rotation. Jaylen Clark may pick up a few extra minutes.

Anthony Edwards finished Friday’s Game 3 loss to the Spurs with 32 points (12-of-26 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), 14 rebounds, six assists, one block and three three-pointers.
Limited to 25 minutes in Games 1 and 2, Edwards was under no restrictions for Game 3. He still isn’t playing at full strength, but the Timberwolves star managed to log 41 minutes on Friday. And Edwards was highly productive, becoming the second player in franchise history to record at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a playoff game. Terrence Shannon Jr., who started the first two games for Edwards, played 28 minutes in Game 3, finishing with five points, two rebounds, two assists and one three-pointer. The Timberwolves will look to even the series at two games apiece on Sunday night.

Mike Conley, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert will start Friday’s Game 3 against the Spurs.
After coming off the bench in the first two games of this series, Edwards returns to the starting lineup for Game 3. The change pushes Terrence Shannon Jr. to the bench, but the second-year wing should remain in the rotation since Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) is done for the season.

Ayo Dosunmu (heel) is questionable to play against the Spurs on Friday.
Despite a strong start to the postseason, Dosunmu has encountered bad injury luck recently. After returning from a calf injury to play in Game 2, he was limited to 10 minutes and exited early with heel pain. If able to play on Friday, his potential as a scorer and quality defender has been proven repeatedly during his time with the Timberwolves. Terrence Shannon Jr. should remain in a big role if Dosunmu doesn’t take the floor.

Ayo Dosunmu (calf) is questionable to play against the Spurs on Wednesday.
Now having missed back-to-back contests, Dosunmu’s status for Wednesday’s Game 2 is uncertain. The Timberwolves have won both games Dosunmu has missed this postseason, with Terrence Shannon Jr. filling in admirably during that stretch. If Dosunmu returns, he’ll provide Minnesota with more perimeter versatility on both ends of the floor.

Anthony Edwards (knee) tallied 18 points (8-of-13 FGs), three rebounds, three assists, one block and two three-pointers in Monday’s Game 1 win over the Spurs.
After missing two games due to a bone bruise in his left knee, Edwards was used in a reserve role on Monday. Limited to 25 minutes, he did experience some soreness in the knee late, which factored into some key mental errors as San Antonio mounted its rally. The good news for Edwards and the Timberwolves was that they did enough to hold on and take a 1-0 series lead. The question now is whether Edwards’ minutes will be restricted in Game 2 on Wednesday, and if he’ll once again come off the bench. Terrence Shannon Jr. had another good night as the starter, finishing with 16 points, five rebounds and one assist.

Mike Conley, Terrence Shannon Jr., Jaden McDaniels, Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert will start Monday’s Game 1 against the Spurs.
Anthony Edwards (knee) is available for Game 1, but he’s on a minutes restriction and will come off the bench. As a result, Shannon will get another start after coming up big in the Timberwolves’ series-clinching win over the Nuggets on Thursday.
  • MIN Guard #13
Ayo Dosunmu (calf) is out for Monday’s Game 1 against the Spurs.
Dosunmu sat out the decisive Game 6 victory over Denver in the first round, and he’ll be out for at least one game of the second-round series with San Antonio. Minnesota is expected to get Anthony Edwards (knee) back, but Terrence Shannon Jr. should still see increased run with Dosunmu sidelined.
