Titans C Eugene Amano, G/C Fernando Velasco, and CB Tommie Campbell are all coming off undisclosed offseason procedures.
There are no details on the surgeries. The Titans have considered moving Amano back to guard with Jake Scott set to exit via free agency, but they realize they should also be aiming higher on the interior. Amano could stake a fair claim to being the least effective pivot in the NFL last season.
  • FA Defensive Back #35
Titans CB Ryan Mouton (Achilles) was able to sprint last week for the first time since his injury in August.
Mouton has appeared in only nine games since 2009, but with Cortland Finnegan gone via free agency, he’ll be in the mix for snaps in 2012, according to GM Ruston Webster. Tennessee’s nickel corner job is open behind starters Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner. A third-round pick in 2009, Mouton’s main competition will come from Chris Hawkins and Tommie Campbell.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
Titans S Tommie Campbell has been diagnosed with a sprained left shoulder.
Campbell was forced from yesterday’s win late in the first quarter, and did not return. Before going down, he took a reverse from Marc Mariani for an 87-yard touchdown on a kickoff return. A seventh-round pick, Campbell has seen very limited snaps in Tennessee’s secondary this season. He’s questionable at best for Week 13.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
Titans S Tommie Campbell left Sunday’s game late in the first quarter with a left shoulder injury.
Campbell took a reverse from Marc Mariani for an 87-yard kickoff return touchdown earlier in the quarter, showing speed to burn. The seventh-round rookie was headed to the locker room cradling his arm just before the end of the first quarter.

Last year’s seventh-rounder, CB Tommie Campbell, is “in the mix for significant playing time” this season.
An intriguing size/speed package at 6'3/206 with legit 4.3 wheels, Campbell has impressed the coaching staff with his commitment level this offseason. With Alterraun Verner shifting to the slot in nickel packages, Campbell will vie with Chris Hawkins and Coty Sensabaugh for snaps opposite Jason McCourty.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
After OTA and minicamp season, the Nashville Tennessean considers Tommie Campbell the favorite for Titans nickel back duties in 2012.
Campbell is big (6'3/205) and really fast, and defensive coordinator Jerry Gray praised his instincts as well. Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner are locked in as the Titans’ starting cornerbacks, but Verner will cover the slot in nickel packages. It sounds like Campbell will play RCB on all passing downs.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
Titans CB Tommie Campbell was not with Kenny Britt when the receiver got popped for DUI last month.
Nashville’s 104.5 FM erroneously reported Campbell as a passenger when Britt tried to enter a gate at Fort Campbell. The 2011 seventh-round pick was in Pennsylvania at the time. Campbell remains in the mix for nickel corner duties in addition to his role as a core special teamer.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
Defensive coordinator Jerry Gray describes second-year man Tommie Campbell as the Titans’ second best cornerback from a technical standpoint.
(Starter Jason McCourty is No. 1). It’s especially notable because Campbell is 6-foot-3, 206, and big corners often struggle with technique. Gray indicated that Campbell will push Alterraun Verner for the Titans’ right cornerback job.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
Titans reserve CB Tommie Campbell left Thursday night’s game against the Steelers with an ankle injury and is doubtful to return.
Campbell is a key special teamer and was injured in the second quarter. He’s a second-year player out of California (PA). Campbell was spotted on crutches after the game.
  • FA Defensive Back #29
Titans CB Tommie Campbell (ankle) is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
Campbell was spotted in a walking boot Monday after spraining his ankle in last Thursday’s upset of the Steelers. The reserve corner is one of the Titans’ top special teamers.
