49ers signed DL Tony Jerod-Eddie off their practice squad.
A 22-year-old undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M, Jerod-Eddie will attempt to shore up San Francisco’s defensive line depth with Justin Smith sidelined.

When asked if his torn biceps was fully healed, 49ers DL Glenn Dorsey said “I’m close.”
Dorsey isn’t practicing yet, but he’ll be ready in plenty of time for the start of the season. The 29-year-old is one of a handful of candidates the 49ers are considering to replace Justin Smith at right end. Arik Armstead, Tony Jerod-Eddie and Ian Williams could see snaps there as well, particularly on passing downs.

The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows reports the 49ers have offered free agent DL Tony Jerod-Eddie a long-term deal.
Originally a restricted free agent, the 49ers decided not to tender Jerod-Eddie in the hopes of bringing him back on a long-term contract. Barrows reports Jerod-Eddie will test the market, but he could sign the 49ers’ offer if he does not find what he likes during the tampering period. With little depth on the defensive line, Jerod-Eddie should play a big role if he returns to San Francisco.

    49ers re-signed DL Tony Jerod-Eddie to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.
The two sides were reportedly working on a long-term deal after San Francisco failed to extend a qualifying offer, but Jerod-Eddie will settle for a one-year deal worth less than the lowest restricted free agent tender. It is a good bit of business by the 49ers, who are desperate for depth along the defensive line. Jerod-Eddie played 290 snaps on defense last year and was a contributor on special teams.
