Heat writer Ira Winderman reports that Tony Snell will join the Miami’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
The 9-year vet last appeared in an NBA contest during the 2021-22 season when he logged 53 games for the Pelicans and Trail Blazers. Snell may get a shot to join the parent club at some point during the regular season, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect meaningful production even if he does.
  • NBA Power Forward #95
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors will host multiple free agents for workouts over the next few weeks.
The Warriors are well under the roster limit for training camp (20), as they have a total of 14 players guaranteed to be present in early October. Given the team’s salary cap situation, they have to look for relative bargains to fill out the roster. As a result, multiple free agents will work out for the team over the next two weeks. According to the report, Juan Toscano-Anderson is one of those players. Also reportedly headed to the Bay Area to work out for the Warriors are Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Harry Giles, and Trey Burke. Toscano-Anderson and Bazemore have been with the Warriors before, but there’s no telling if the familiarity will enhance their chances of sticking.
  • NBA Small Forward #21
Tony Snell jogged around for 31 minutes vs. the Magic on Wednesday, going scoreless (0-of-4 FGs) with one rebound and two steals.
This is the Tony Snell special. He’s simply not a good fantasy option, and if this is where most of Brandon Ingram’s (hamstring) minutes go, there aren’t going to be any good pickups in New Orleans.

  • NBA Small Forward #21
C.J. McCollum, Tony Snell, Herb Jones, Jaxson Hayes, and Jonas Valanciunas will start Tuesday’s game against the Grizzlies.
With Brandon Ingram (hamstring) ruled out, Snell will fill the resulting void in the starting lineup. While he hasn’t been the most reliable of fantasy options since joining the Pelicans, Snell is in a spot where he can provide 3-pointers and defensive stats to managers in need of a streamer capable of providing that kind of production.

  • WAS Shooting Guard #3
C.J. McCollum is expected to make his Pelicans debut in Thursday’s game against the Heat.
C.J. will get a tough matchup right away on his new team, but he will be a nice go-to scorer next to Brandon Ingram going forward as New Orleans tries to make a play-in/playoff push. There’s no reason McCollum shouldn’t see the allotment of minutes in the 30s he’s so used to, so everything’s pointing towards the shooting guard being in starting territory in all fantasy leagues. Tony Snell is also expected to make his debut, but we’ll blurb him separately so he doesn’t overshadow C.J.

  • NBA Small Forward #21
Tony Snell is expected to make his debut with his new team as the Pelicans take on the Heat on Thursday night.
Snell is on his fifth team in four years, and while shipping out guys like Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Josh Hart could leave some room for Snell, his fantasy game leaves much to be desired. In related news, C.J. McCollum will also make his debut tomorrow, and he’s ever-so-slightly more enticing.

  • WAS Shooting Guard #3
The Trail Blazers are finalizing a trade that would send C.J. McCollum, Larry Nance, and Tony Snell to the Pelicans in exchange for Josh Hart, Tomas Satoransky, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, a protected first, and two future seconds.
After starting the season 1-12, the Pelicans are now in the playoff hunt and just dealt for one of the most established scorers in the league. McCollum should immediately step into a starting role alongside Devonte’ Graham in the backcourt and should still get plenty of scoring opportunities. McCollum is heading to a situation where he can compete in the playoffs, while Portland is making the direction of their team clear.

  • NBA Small Forward #21
Tony Snell has been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans as a part of the C.J. McCollum trade.
After two consecutive starts in Portland, Snell likely won’t see many of those in New Orleans. He won’t be much of a fantasy asset behind Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones.

  • NBA Small Forward #21
Tony Snell will start vs. the Thunder on Friday.
Anfernee Simons, CJ McCollum, CJ Elleby and Jusuf Nurkic are the other starters. Portland’s rotation will be a bit messy tonight after their big trade, but we’re not expecting Snell to emerge with fantasy value. Elleby is someone to monitor in deeper leagues.

  • LAC Small Forward #24
Norman Powell and Tony Snell will enter the starting lineup for Wednesday’s matchup with the Mavericks, joining Anfernee Simons, C.J. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic.
Nassir Little (left shoulder strain) and Robert Covington (right MCL sprain) have already been ruled out, so these two are their replacements. Powell will likely remain in the starting lineup going forwards with Little coming off the bench when he’s healthy, so the only real change here is the Snell/RoCo swap. Tony Snell isn’t useful even when he’s starting, however.
