Dolphins rookie CB Travis Daniels did not start Miami’s preseason opener.
Reggie Howard has moved ahead of Daniels, at least for now. Howard gave up a big play to Mushin Muhammad though.

Rookie cornerback Travis Daniels made his first start of the preseason.
He’s the favorite to start opposite Sam Madison and could rack up tackles because he’ll be targeted so often.
  • FA Defensive Back #34
Dolphins CB Travis Daniels was on crutches at practice Thursday.
Head coach Nick Saban says Daniels is day-to-day but Daniels reportedly has a sprained ankle. He could be sidelined into next week.
  • FA Defensive Back #34
Dolphins CB Travis Daniels is doubtful for Thursday’s game.
The second-year starter is still not 100 percent after missing nearly all of camp with a sprained ankle. Andre Goodman will start in his place and likely cover Steelers WR Cedrick Wilson.
  • FA Defensive Back #34
As expected, Dolphins CB Travis Daniels (ankle) was inactive Thursday.
Andre Goodman started at the left corner. QB Cleo Lemon, DT Fred Evans, G Joe Berger, C Wade Smith, T Anthony Alabi, DT Jeff Zgonina, and DT Kevin Vickerson also did not play. Zgonina, who may be on the trade block, saw his consecutive-games streak end at 74 Thursday night.

Chiefs CB Travis Daniels left Sunday’s game against the Chargers in the second quarter with an undisclosed injury, but quickly returned.
Daniels was only in the game because Brandon Flowers was hurt. Without Daniels, the Chiefs would be down to Javier Arenas and Jalil Brown as corners.

    Chiefs re-signed CB Travis Daniels.
Daniels has held his own in 41 games as an injury fill-in and extra cornerback in subpackage sets over the past three years. His history with coach Romeo Crennel goes back to 2008 with the Browns.

Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers will have X-rays on his ankle when the Chiefs return to Kansas City.
The injury was originally reported as a knee issue, so this comes as some level of relief for the Chiefs. Still, Flowers received an injection Sunday and was still unable to return to the game or put weight on his leg. The Chiefs will have to turn to Travis Daniels if Flowers can’t go against the Vikings next week. It could be another major injury in a season full of them for 0-3 Kansas City.
  • FA Defensive Back #34
Rookie cornerback Travis Daniels opened Dolphins mini-camp as the team’s starting cornerback.
The fourth-round pick has an edge because he knows Nick Saban from their days together at LSU.
