  • NYM Second Baseman #1
McNeil’s second-half hot streak continued during Tuesday’s Subway Series opener when he smacked a go-ahead homer off Yankees reliever Michael Tonkin in the sixth inning. The 32-year-old has clearly unlocked something over the last few days, homering a whopping four times in five contests since the All-Star break.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
It’s not an encouraging development that Trout, who had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on May 3, lasted just two innings in his return to game action on Tuesday night when he was expected to complete at least five innings in center field. This latest setback likely extinguishes any hope that he’ll return at some point later this week, but that remains to be seen. There should be some additional clarity on his status in the coming days.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Feinsand adds that it’s “unclear where talks stand between Detroit and either of the clubs, but if the Tigers decide to make Skubal available, other teams are expected to enter the fray, creating a sweepstakes feel to the situation.” There’s some uncertainty whether Detroit is actually considering dealing Skubal, who boasts a pristine 2.34 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 146/22 K/BB ratio across 123 innings (20 starts) this season. However, he would command an astronomical prospect package in return since he’s arbitration-eligible through 2026. The more likely scenario, adds Feinsand, is the Tigers dealing resurgent impending free agent Jack Flaherty to a “rotation-needy contender.” We’re still a few days away from any decisions here, but it sounds like there are at least a handful of clubs preparing to make a serious push to pry Skubal away from Detroit.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #51
With rain in the forecast throughout the evening in Atlanta, there simply wasn’t a clear window to get this one in. It’ll be made up as a split doubleheader on Wednesday instead. Tuesday’s original starting pitchers -- Nick Martinez and Chris Sale -- will presumably be pushed back to take the ball at some point during Wednesday’s twin bill at Truist Park.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Rengifo is back at designated hitter and batting second on Tuesday night against the division-rival Mariners following a two-week absence due to right wrist inflammation. The 27-year-old shortstop has been a revelation this season for fantasy managers, thanks to an unexpected uptick in the batting average and stolen base departments. He’s batting a career-best .315 (79-for-251) with six homers and a career-high 22 stolen bases across 269 plate appearances through 69 games.
  • SEA Center Fielder #44
The concern here for fantasy managers is that Rodríguez has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, which typically takes much longer to heal than a typical sprained ankle. It also contradicts what Mariners manager Scott Servais said late Monday when he told reporters Rodríguez was day-to-day with a mild ankle sprain that he suffered during Sunday’s game against the Astros. No word yet on how long he’ll be sidelined, but it seems like it could be at least a couple weeks. Stay tuned.
  • MIN Third Baseman #64
Miranda is going to require at least a couple minor league contests to get back up to speed after landing on the injured list prior to the All-Star break due to a lower back strain. The 26-year-old corner infielder has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball prior to his injury, batting .400 (42-for-105) with three homers, 23 RBI and one steal over his last 30 games. Barring something unexpected, there’s a chance he’s back with the Twins later this week.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Senga will ostensibly take over Christian Scott’s spot in New York’s starting rotation after the rookie landed on the injured list with a right UCL sprain. The 31-year-old right-hander has been on the shelf since spring training due to persistent shoulder issues and several setbacks. He’s looked sharp in a handful of minor league rehab outings and should make an instant impact for fantasy managers, especially in the strikeout department.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
Not great. The severity of the issue is a bit unclear at the moment since the Mets are still waiting for doctors to review his MRI results. However, it certainly appears likely that Scott is facing an extended absence, even if it’s merely a sprain and not a complete tear. The 25-year-old rookie right-hander, who holds a pedestrian 4.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 39/12 K/BB ratio across 47 1/3 innings (nine starts) this season in his first taste of the majors, is universally-regarded as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, so it’s a big loss for New York. There should be some clarity on his status soon, but fantasy managers should prepare for the possibility that his season is over.
  • NYY Center Fielder #89
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Domínguez, who has been on the shelf since mid-June due to an oblique strain that he suffered back at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, is likely to return to game action within the next week. The 21-year-old top prospect likely would’ve made it back to New York a couple weeks ago, if not for the ailment. He figures to need at least a couple weeks of games in the minors to ramp back up before potentially making his season debut.
