Hamilton

A local high school star, Hamilton broke Robert Mathis’ SWAC single-season record for sacks last year at Prairie View A&M. He never had much of a chance to stick with Victor Butler, special teamer Alex Albright and fourth-rounder Kyle Wilber higher in the pecking order.

Hamilton was among Dallas’ final cuts prior to the season. He set a SWAC record with 20.5 sacks last season but went undrafted. Hamilton takes the roster spot created by ILB Jameel McClain’s (spinal cord contusion) placement on injured reserve.

Hamilton spent last season on the Ravens’ practice squad before being signed to the active roster in Week 16. He was a dominant pass rusher at small school Prairie View A&M but needs more seasoning at the NFL level. The Ravens will “stash” Hamilton on I.R. and give him a shot to make the roster in 2014.

Hamilton spent the first 15 weeks of the 2012 season on the Ravens’ practice squad before missing all of 2013 with a wrist injury. He’ll compete for a roster spot.
