Cowboys signed Texas A&M LB Anthony Hines.
Hines (6'2/225) started for just one of his four years on campus in College Station. Hines was forced to burn his redshirt in 2018 after suffering a season-ending knee injury early in the year. Then COVID hit in 2020 and Hines decided to opt out and declare, leaving 2019 as his only year of full tape. Hines racked up 73 tackles that year, including 10.5 for losses. As his light frame may suggest, Hines gets by on impressive speed and movement skills, which is backed up by his 4.65s 40-yard dash. Hines can be a good overlap run defender for this reason, though his work on other assignments will need work, seeing as he is not the quickest to trigger nor the best at handling blocks. Hines also does not have a natural feel for commanding the routes of running backs and tight ends in coverage despite his quality athletic traits. Hines is a backup linebacker for now who will need to add weight, similar to Skai Moore.
