Vaughn Dalzell shares his betting card for the 2023 NCAA College Basketball Championship Game between the San Diego State Aztecs vs. Connecticut Huskies.

San Diego State vs. UConn (-7.5): O/U 132.5

This spread opened at -5 and moved quickly to -6.5 before settling at -7.5 and some places showing -8 and -8.5’s.

UConn has won every game by at least 13 points in the NCAA Tournament so far, so this spread is no surprise. The O/U opened at 135.5 and dropped down to 132.5 as both teams are top 15 in defensive efficiency.

San Diego State rallied back from down 14 points against Florida Atlantic but doing that against UConn will be much more challenging. No one could stay within UConn as they’ve led at halftime in all five contests and rolled into double-digits.

The Huskies have won by an average of 20.6 points per game in the tournament and won the rebounding margin by +10.8 per game. UConn appears to be on of the most elite and complete teams over the past 10 seasons and should win this game.

Historically, the past six champions have scored at least 70 points and 14 out of the last 19 in the March Madness Championship Game. I see UConn keeping that trend alive, so I will take the Over 69.5 (-118) on the Huskies Team Total in addition to the -7 (-115).

Pick: UConn Team Total Over 69.5 (1u), UConn -7 (0.5u)
