The Aggies are the 13th-ranked team since the New Year in offensive efficiency and 9th in defense during that span, along with the 5th-highest free-throw rate and 2nd-best offensive rebounding rate, plus the second-best WAB (wins above bubble).
The Aggies are a serious sleeper that are still being slept on. Weirdly enough, teams like Iowa (+10000), Memphis (+10000), Northwestern (+12000), Michigan State (+15000), West Virginia (+12000) and Oklahoma State (+15000) all have similar odds to win the National Championship as Texas A&M -- am I missing something?
This value on Texas A&M should be much lower and closer to +3000 or +4000. Teams like Xavier (+4000), Iowa State (+4500), Arkansas (+5500) and San Diego State (+7500) have much better odds than Texas A&M and I am not seeing who would believe that.
A&M is a top 50 offensive and defensive efficiency rated squad, one of the best offensive rebounding teams (37%) along with free-throw shooting (75.6%) and an impressive 14-1 at home compared to 6-3 in true road games.
The Aggies could make some serious noise over the next month and we would be fools not to get any value on Texas A&M. I bet the Aggies at +3500 to make the Final Four and +12500 to win the National Championship.
After Texas A&M beat Tennessee, the Aggies odds dropped to +2500 and +10000, still worth grabbing.
Texas A&M plays Mississippi State (road), Ole Miss (road) and Alabama (home) to close the regular season.
If Texas A&M wins out, these odds will be cut in half, especially if they beat Alabama. Look out for Texas A&M to win the SEC Tournament when odds are announced. The Aggies will be my pick in the SEC.
