The biggest game of the college football season takes place this weekend in Tuscaloosa.
No. 2 Alabama welcomes No. 3 Georgia to Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide are a six-point favorite at PointsBet Sportsbook with a total of 56.5.
Some of you reading this column believe that Georgia is going to pull the upset. (Full disclosure: I don’t like Georgia in the game, but it’s more than okay if you do). If you like Georgia, you should definitely look into the Bulldogs at 10-to-1 to win the national championship.[[ad:athena]]
One of my best picks of the 2019 football season came in a very similar situation. The LSU Tigers rolled into Alabama as a 6.5 point underdog last November. It was an enormous victory that catapulted Joe Burrow and Co. into one of the most historic college football runs of all-time.
And guess what? LSU rose from 6-to-1 to 3-to-1 to win the national championship after the win.
“Beating Alabama would be a hell of a statement,” PointsBet senior sports analyst Andrew Mannino told NBC Sports. “Whoever comes out of the SEC is going to be a power to be reckoned with in the playoff. Right now, we’ve got Georgia at +1000. If they win Saturday, they’ll be neck-and-neck with Alabama at around +600. If they lose but it’s a good game, maybe it’s Georgia +1300. If they get absolutely blown out, I could see +2000.”
So now it’s on you. You’ve got the situational future math at your fingertips. I really think if you’re going to bet Georgia on the moneyline, you should do yourself a favor and throw a little extra change on them to win the national title at +1000. Why not?
If the Dawgs pull off the upset, you’ll never see +1000 again.
