The Zurich Classic saw Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele outlast Sam Burns and Billy Horschel. On most books, the pair went off at +800 and were one of the chalkiest teams to win the Zurich Classic. Their brilliant record-setting opening round of 59 propelled them to the top of the leaderboard. They were the Zurich Classic’s first wire-to-wire winner.
The PGA Tour travels to Vallarta, Mexico, for the first-ever Mexico Open hosted at the Vidanta Vallarta. The par-71 Greg Norman-designed coastal course is sea-level that plays about 7,450 yards. With this being the first event at this course, there isn’t historical data that will be used in models for determining a winner. Here, golfers who could have success tend to play well at other coastal events.

World No.2 Jon Rahm is PointsBet Sportsbook’s heavy betting favorite this week at +450. A price that seems short for a guy who has not won since last year’s US Open. The Spaniard hasn’t necessarily been bad, but his short game has been his downfall this season. Over his previous 24 rounds, Rahm has lost -0.1 stroker per round putting and another -0.3 strokes around the green. While putting prowess shouldn’t be overly critical here, Rahm will have to putt much better than he has over his last five tournaments should he want to find himself at the top of the podium come Sunday.
Abraham Ancer at +2000 will be a popular pick at +2000. He will be looking to pick up his first win since his maiden victory last season at the St. Jude Invitational. The Mexican golfer will undoubtedly attract a large gallery this week. Ancer will hopefully be able to bounce back from back-to-back missed cuts and put on a solid performance.
At first glance, two golfers caught my attention. The first is Cameron Tringale at +3000. He’s had a few top-10 finishes this year, and his strong play will be rewarded with a victory soon. The other is Russell Knox at +5000. He’s a great coastal course golfer, and his seventh-place finish at the Sony Open should show promise at Vidanta Vallarta.
