Shane Bieber O/U 9.5 Strikeouts vs. Mariners
Shane Bieber has hit two straight Unders? What is going on in the World?
Well, today is a fantastic opportunity for Bieber to get back to striking out double-digit hitters facing a Seattle Mariners squad.
The Mariners are tied for the eighth-most strikeouts in the league this season (372) and last in the league with a .205 batting average.
Versus right-handed pitchers (RHP), the Mariners are hitting .214 (26th) and struck out 260 times (T-13rd).
Over the last six games and seven days, Seattle is hitting .194 and struck out 53 times to 20 walks. Only the Angels and Brewers are hitting worse than the Mariners in that span.
In the previous 15 days and 13 games, Seattle is hitting a .193 batting average and 117 strikeouts to 41 walks. Those are great numbers for Bieber to take advantage of.
NBC’s model projects Bieber to record 9.6 strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched. In the 2021 season, Bieber totaled 11 or more strikeouts in five of his first six starts. Since then, he has recorded eight and nine Ks in 12.2 innings for two straight Unders.

Bieber played the Mariners twice in his career, both in 2019. Bieber went 6.0 innings and recorded fives strikeouts, three walks, and 106 pitches in the first meeting. In the second game against Seattle, Bieber went 7.2 innings for eight strikeouts, one walk and 114 pitches.
The Indians’ ace has 85 strikeouts in 55.0 innings this season. He also has the record for most consecutive games in a row with at least eight strikeouts in 20 straight regular-season contests. Bieber is 4-2 with a 2.95 ERA on the season and tied with Tyler Glasnow for the league-lead with 85 strikeouts. [[ad:athena]]
Bieber has gone at least six innings deep in all starts this season. Seattle only has three hitters who have faced Bieber in their careers and the trio has five strikeouts in 11 at-bats.
In the previous outing, Bieber recorded a career-high 121 pitches, now posting 100-plus pitches in seven straight games. If he were another pitcher, I might worry about usage or injuries, but Bieber is a different animal. Even against the Cubs, a struggling outing in general, Bieber recorded eight Ks and still made it longer than 6.0 innings.
Back Bieber to end his consecutive outings of fewer than 10 strikeouts here versus the Mariners.
Pick: Shane Bieber Over 9.5 Strikeouts (1u)
