Market moving toward Royals, Brady Singer

Brady Singer

Brady Singer

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

What do Shane Bieber, Max Fried, Tyler Glasnow and Brady Singer all have in common?

They all make you money when they pitch.

Singer is a name you may not be familiar with because he pitches for a last place baseball team. Lo and behold, the Royals have 22 wins all season and six of them came when Singer took the hill.

“He seems to have found a groove since he’s simplified things,” Westgate SuperBook senior baseball trader Randy Blum told NBC Sports. “He’s throwing more fastballs and sliders because he was struggling with the changeup. He’ll need to find a third pitch in the offseason, but keeping it simple with those two pitches is working right now.”

According to Rotoworld’s Edge Finder, a $100 bettor is up $450 this season if they bet Singer in every start. And you usually get the 24-year-old righty at nice plus prices. Singer has already cashed at +144, +194 and +220 this season.

The market in this game opened St. Louis -135 and it’s already down to -115 at PointsBet Sportsbook. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Kansas City closed as the favorite. The total has also been bet down from 9 to 8.5 (o-115).

I’m always extra intrigued when the betting line moves toward a last place team. This situation is even more complex since the Cardinals are hanging on to a playoff spot for dear life. Every game is important for them down the stretch, while Kansas City is playing pressure-free baseball.

The Royals have won three of Singer’s last four starts and he was outstanding in his last two outings. He tossed six shutout innings and gave up two hits against Detroit. The start before that, he threw eight shutout innings and allowed only one hit at Cleveland.

I agree with the market move and I’m rolling with Brady Singer.

Play on the Royals +100.
