Reid Detmers (LAA) under 4.5 Ks at Texas AND Minnesota Twins’ team total OVER 3.5 at the Oakland Athletics
Boosted from +210 to +240
DJ Short (@djshort) and Drew Silva (@drewsilv)
Short: Reid Detmers is coming off a no-hitter last week against the Rays, so this might feel like a strange time to go against him, but he managed to pull off the feat despite striking out only two batters. He racked up just 10 swinging strikes in his 108 pitches. Prior to the no-no, Detmers hadn’t completed more than five innings in a start this season. He’s struck out four batters or fewer in five out of his six starts. The Rangers are in the middle of the pack as far as team strikeout rate, so this doesn’t look like a matchup that will put Detmers in position to buck the trend.
AND
Silva: After getting off to a rocky start here in 2022, the Twins are 17-7 over their last 24 games and have jumped out to a three-game lead on first place in the American League Central standings. They have a top-10 combined team OPS (.728) since the calendar turned to May. It all lines up for a bludgeoning of the Athletics, who are in a free-fall following an offseason of sell-offs. Oakland’s starter tonight, James Kaprielian, is coming off a springtime shoulder injury and has issued nine walks through his first 12 2/3 innings (three starts) this year. Lean heavy on Minnesota.

Colorado Rockies ML vs. San Francisco Giants AND Chad Kuhl UNDER 4.5 Ks for the Rockies
Boosted from +325 to +390
John Venezia (@_JohnnyVTV) and Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports)
Venezia: The 21-14 Giants have been strong on the road this season at 10-7, but statistically have a noticeable drop off from their home games. Giants’ starter Alex Cobb has been okay this season with a 3.98 ERA, but still has yet to make it six full innings in any start. His only road outing this season was at the Mets, where he was eviscerated for six hits and three earned runs in only 4.1 innings.
Rockies’ starter Chad Kuhl actually has been cool this year going 3-1 with a 2.88 ERA this season. That said, Kuhl is coming off his only rough outing of the year to… the San Francisco Giants (five earned runs, seven hits, three walks in 4.2 innings). Time for some revenge? At home through two starts, Chad has been butter with a 2.03 ERA and a 1.56 OBA.
Take a big time plus money dog. How ya doin’?
AND
Dalzell: This month, the Giants are 10-4 to the Under 4.5 Ks versus starting pitching (71.4%) and Kuhl has a 5.06 ERA in May so far with a .244 OBA (two starts) compared a .190 ERA and .160 OBA in April.
He allowed six earned runs and five walks in his past two games versus five earned runs and seven walks in the first four starts of the season. It appears Kuhl is coming back down to Earth for the Rockies. That means for the sake of this parlay, we may need plenty of C.J. Cron and Kris Bryant for the Rockies to earn the victory and cash this ticket.
