Bettors firing on Brady, Bucs on MNF

When a Tom Brady-led football team plays in primetime, sportsbooks are usually rooting for the other side. The song remains the same tonight with Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams.

PointsBet Sportsbook is dealing Tampa Bay -4.5 with a total of 48.

“Looks like another lopsided one,” PointsBet senior sports analyst Andrew Mannino told NBC Sports. “The bettors are all-in on Tom and the Bucs. We’ve got 63 percent of the bets and 81 percent of the money on Tampa Bay. And the total is looking pretty typical for a Monday night game with 73 percent of the bets on the Over.”[[ad:athena]]

So what’s the perfect outcome for the book?

“A nice 10-9 slugfest would do the trick,” Mannino cracked.

PointsBet enjoyed one of their best Sundays of the season with lots of very public sides failing to cover. Then when a late avalanche of tickets and money showed up on Kansas City on Sunday night, Las Vegas was able to hang inside the number.

“It was a really good week for us,” Mannino said. “We were in solid shape with the Dolphins going down. We had lopsided money on the Packers, Bengals and Patriots too. All those games fell in our favor. And the Raiders covering on Sunday Night Football really put a nice bow on a good weekend.”

Mannino reported that 92 percent of the spread tickets were on Miami.

Another big decision for a lot of American sportsbooks was New Orleans covering at home against Atlanta. The Falcons were bet all the way down from +5.5 to +3.5 after the announcement that Drew Brees was ruled out with multiple injuries early last week. The Saints covered all numbers with ease in their 24-9 win in the Superdome.
