Last week’s teaser came through on the Rams and Broncos, so obviously we need to fire another one this weekend. Those are the rules.
If you’re new around here, a teaser is a bet that allows you to adjust the point spread six points whichever way you choose. You must select a minimum of two bets, but you have to win all the bets in the teaser to cash the ticket.
While some people like to maximize their payout and do four or five-team teasers, your chances of winning get increasingly more difficult with every extra team you add. I’ll stick with the standard two-teamer and tease through the most important numbers in football – 3 and 7.[[ad:athena]]
The Chicago Bears are going to be a rollercoaster this year, especially with Mitch Trubisky at quarterback. But any bet on the Bears is a bet on their defense. Akiem Hicks, Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn were all on the injury report this week, but it’s sounding like they’re all going to play on Sunday against the Giants. Hicks and Quinn were full participants in practice Friday and Mack told reporters “I’m going to be ready.”
That’s great news for Chicago and awful news for New York. The Giants offensive line allowed the most pressures in the entire league last week and it’s not going to be much easier against the Monsters of the Midway. Quarterback Daniel Jones isn’t going to know what (or who) hit him.
I don’t really love that -5 or -5.5 point spread, so let’s tease!
I’ll take the Bears from -5.5 to +0.5. Just win the game. As long as Trubisky doesn’t turn the ball over three times, Chicago has more than enough to win. Saquon Barkley should play better, but this Giants team still needs a lot of help.
The second leg won’t be as popular, but that’s okay. While betting on Dan Quinn isn’t my favorite thing to do, a teaser allows you to move the Falcons up from +4.5 to +10.5. I get to go through the 6, 7 and 10 with an offense that has enough ammo to keep things close.
One sportsbook director in Vegas told me one of his best players made a sizable bet on the Falcons +4.5. That makes me feel even better about the pick although I need double digits to put my money on Atlanta. Let’s dance.
Tease the Bears +0.5 to the Falcons +10.5.
