Last week’s teaser came through on the Bears and Falcons, so obviously we need to fire another one this weekend. Those are the rules.
If you’re new around here, a teaser is a bet that allows you to adjust the point spread six points whichever way you choose. You must select a minimum of two bets, but you have to win all the bets in the teaser to cash the ticket.
While some people like to maximize their payout and do four or five-team teasers, your chances of winning get increasingly more difficult with every extra team you add. I’ll stick with the standard two-teamer and tease through the most important numbers in football – 3 and 7.[[ad:athena]]
First things first. The first teaser leg is one of my favorite situational spots in the National Football League. This game features two teams that played on national television the week before. The Patriots gave up 35 points in a loss to Russell Wilson and the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. The Raiders looked like world beaters during Monday night’s win over the Saints.
I read an article earlier this week that proclaimed Oakland’s Darren Waller has the tools to be the one of the best tight ends in the history of the game. So that’s where we’re at. Mmmkay. This line is actually moving away from Bill Belichick in a bounce back spot and that’s totally cool with me.
I’ll gladly fade the noise and move the Patriots from -5.5 to +0.5. Just win the game.
The second game won’t be as popular as we’re putting our hard earned money on the Minnesota Vikings, who have been shredded twice in two weeks. I know, I know. Bear with me. The Vikings Defense isn’t as strong as it’s been over the last few years, but this is a spot that I’ll gladly play. An 0-and-2 team is only getting a field goal at home? It doesn’t even make sense. And bettors are going to load up on Tennessee -3.
That’s not the most comfortable number for me because I want more than 3 points. So let’s tease!
Let’s go through a bunch of key numbers and tease Minnesota from +3 through 4, 6, 7, and 8. That gives us a much bigger window on a desperate football team that’s going to pull out all the stops to try and win their first game of 2020. This is one of those head scratching spots where the Vikings might even win outright. I just prefer a nice nine-point cushion where the backdoor never really closes.
Tease the Patriots +0.5 to the Vikings +9.
