Sunday Prop Shop: Week 3

Dalvin Cook

Dalvin Cook

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to the Sunday Prop Shop.

Every Saturday, we’ll dive inside the thousands of NFL props from our friends over at PointsBet Sportsbook. Please scale back your bet size on props, because a lot of these picks will be longer shots to win. I like to bet a little to win a lot with props. If you bet 100 dollars a game, go with 10 or 20 bucks a prop.

Let’s go.[[ad:athena]]

$20 Dalvin Cook scores touchdown and Vikings win (+215)

This probably makes you squeamish and that’s okay. There aren’t many people that want to bet on an 0-and-2 Vikings club as a home underdog. The Titans are an extremely square side and every time that line gets to Tennessee -3, it immediately gets bet back to Vikings +2.5. Something is going on there. I love desperate teams and actually don’t think losses against the Packers and Colts are all that bad. Minnesota needs to get back to the run game and Dalvin Cook should find the end zone. We’ll need some help from the football gods with the Vikings to win part. Skol.

$20 Josh Allen Over 38.5 rushing yards (-115)

This number tells a story. Allen only rushed for 19 yards last week against the Miami Dolphins. So why is his rushing prop set at 38.5 yards for Sunday? Because oddsmakers know that the Rams linebacking core can be beaten on the ground. Dak Prescott only ran it three times, but gashed Los Angeles for 30 rushing yards in Week 1. That’s 10 yards a pop! Allen is probably going to have 2 or 3x the amount of rushing attempts and he’s not afraid to run over a linebacker or two.

$20 Alvin Kamara to get 125+ rushing yards (+375)

New Orleans needs to run the football to beat the Green Bay Packers. It’s that simple. I’m hoping Sean Payton has been watching the film of the absolute beatdown that San Francisco put on the Pack in last year’s NFC Championship. The Niners rushed for 285 yards in that game and it honestly felt like even more. Mike Pettine’s defense allowed 125 rushing yards or more seven times in 2019. Green Bay isn’t going to jump ahead to a massive lead like they did against Minnesota and Detroit. Those teams had to abandon the run, New Orleans won’t. Let’s hope the Saints feed Kamara and give him 20+ carries.

$10 Cole Kmet scores a touchdown (+1600)

Eventually my man is going to catch his first NFL touchdown. The rookie tight end out of Notre Dame is such a big target inside the 10-yard line and Mitchell Trubisky tried to give Kmet a touchdown in Week 1, but overthrew the 6-foot-6 monster by 10 feet. I guess that’ll happen with Trubisky. Oh well. The game’s point total (O/U 47.5) tells me there will be plenty of points in Atlanta. Kmet won’t get a lot of targets, but he’s always a threat inside the red zone.
