Sunday Prop Shop: Week 8

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to the Sunday Prop Shop.

Every weekend, we’ll dive inside the thousands of NFL props from our friends over at PointsBet Sportsbook. Please scale back your bet size on props, because a lot of these picks will be longer shots to win. I like to bet a little to win a lot with props. If you bet 100 dollars a game, go with 10 or 20 bucks a prop.

Let’s go.[[ad:athena]]

$20 Jets-Chiefs Under 44 points (+150)

Much has been made about the point spread in this one. Everybody wants an opinion on the massive 19.5-point number that Kansas City is laying. I would much rather focus on an adjusted total. There’s absolutely no reason for the Chiefs to run up the score on a winless football team. If they’re up big in the second half, they’ll pull the starters and run the clock out. I envision 27-7 in the fourth quarter and even then a late touchdown wouldn’t beat us.

$15 Patriots to score over 2.5 touchdowns (+200)

I still can’t believe that New England scored only one touchdown in the month of October. One. Here’s to a better November. If the Patriots were a stock, they would be at rock bottom. That does wonders for their odds in props like this. Also, Denver and San Francisco are both Top 10 defenses and Buffalo is not. The Bills rank 26th in the NFL against the run according to Football Outsiders. As long as Cam Newton doesn’t throw three more picks, we’ve got a shot.

$10 Tua’s first touchdown pass caught by Adam Shaheen (+1500)

Spin that roulette wheel. Shaheen has actually caught a touchdown pass in the last two games. That should get him some more opportunities going forward because after all, this is a results-oriented business. The popular picks are DeVante Parker (+340) and Mike Gesicki (+430), but I’m going for the long shot. How about a play-action fake and pass to the big fella for the score.
