Titans bettors get their spread bets refunded

It’s good karma, alright.

Tennessee Titans bettors were betrayed last night by the right foot of kicker Stephen Gostkowski. One of the most accurate kickers in the history of the NFL missed three field goals and an extra point on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos.

Gostkowski missed wide right from 47 yards, wide left from 42 yards and had a 44-yard attempt blocked. He also missed an extra point. It was just that kind of night. Ironically enough, Gostkowski finally hit a 25-yarder in the final seconds to win the game.[[ad:athena]]

16-14 Titans. Final.

The problem for Titans spread bettors is that if they laid -2.5 or -3, they lost.

PointsBet Sportsbook got together with the Karma Kommittee and decided to refund all spread wagers on Tennessee at -2.5 and -3. If you made either of those two bets, PointsBet put the money right back into your account.

“Entering last night’s game, 3x Super Bowl champion and 4x Pro Bowler Stephen Gostkowski was the fifth most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history,” PointsBet communications director Patrick Eichner told NBC Sports. “He missed three field goals – something he’d never done before in his 15-year NFL career – and an extra point, leaving 10 points on the board. It’s only right that we have the back of bettors who bet Tennessee.”

Why give money back to a sports bettor that lost fair and square?

“Being bettor friendly has always been a staple of the PointsBet philosophy,” Eichner explained. “When we first entered New Jersey in 2019, we made a name for ourselves by refunding all bettors on the wrong side of the blown pass interference call in the Saints-Rams NFC Championship game. We’ve never wavered from that mentality.”

I was always told that a penny saved is a penny earned.

And now it’s clear that a bad beat can be returned.
