Play was suspended twice on the opening day of Wimbledon at the All England Club, but the return of massive crowds to the grounds for the first time in a couple years kept all excited throughout the day.
Highlights for the crowd included U.S Open champion Emma Raducanu’s first match on Centre Court and the return of 2-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray to the grounds despite whispers that injuries would prevent him from competing.
Raducanu’s victory crushed the first day of The Daily Deuce: Wimbledon Edition, but the locals were pleased to see the British sensation upset Alison Van Uytvanck in straight sets. For his part, Murray vanquished James Duckworth in four sets. After dropping the first set, Murray rolled.
Day 2 will see a conclusion of all Monday matches suspended due to darkness as well as all matches originally scheduled for Tuesday. Among those competing Tuesday are two of the all-time greats of the sport: Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal. Serena is seeking her 24th Grand Slam Singles’ Title while Nadal is looking to win his third Slam of 2022 and the 23rd of his career.
