Saints signed RB Malcolm Brown to a one-year contract.
Darius Victor, Bo Scarbrough, and Jordan Howard all worked out for the Saints before Brown was signed. Brown is a veteran solution behind Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara as the Saints continue to try to stockpile backs for the seemingly likely suspension of Kamara, though nobody knows when that suspension may actually get handed down. Brown will be competing with UDFA Abram Smith and returner Tony Jones Jr for a roster spot in camp.

Seahawks placed RB Bo Scarbrough on injured reserve with a torn hamstring, ending his season.
Scarbrough ever so briefly featured in the Seahawks’ makeshift backfield, which is finally getting back to better health. Ex-Lion Scarbrough is still just 24, but the fact that he was only able to earn six carries this season does not bode well for his NFL future. He was decent in 2019 spot duty for Detroit. The light is not all the way turned off.

Carlos Hyde, DeeJay Dallas, and Bo Scarbrough will be the Seahawks’ active running backs on Thursday night against the Cardinals.
Hyde, recovered from his hamstring injury, should serve as the lead back against Arizona. He should be treated as a mid-range RB2, with Dallas only viable in deep PPR formats. Dallas played 33 percent of Seattle’s Week 10 snaps and saw three targets. The team did not call up Alex Collins from the practice squad.

Lions activated RB Bo Scarbrough from injured reserve.
He’s yet to play this season and is unlikely to have much of a role, if any, behind Adrian Peterson, D’Andre Swift, and Kerryon Johnson.

Lions placed RB Bo Scarbrough (undisclosed) on injured reserve.
He’ll be elgible to return in three weeks based on the league’s new policy for this year. Scarbrough missed several days towards the end of camp, which ultimately led to the team adding veteran Adrian Peterson behind Kerryon Johnson and rookie D’Andre Swift (leg). Johnson will likely lead the team in touches in Week 1 with Peterson adding a handful of carries behind him, but this backfield sets up to be a murky one even before Scarbrough returns to the mix.

  • FA Running Back #21
Lions signed RB Adrian Peterson to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
Peterson knows OC Darrell Bevel from their days in Minnesota. He joins a crowded backfield in Detroit, but Peterson gives the Lions a veteran presence that can help on early downs. Peterson’s signing is bad news for the Week 1 status of D’Andre Swift (leg) and Bo Scarbrough (undisclosed).

Bo Scarbrough has “practiced sparingly” through the first three days of training camp.
Coach Matt Patricia said the team is “reevaluating” Scarbrough. D’Andre Swift (leg) is also sitting out practice.

Bo Scarbrough rushed nine times for 42 yards in the Lions’ Week 17 loss to the Packers.
Scarbrough didn’t record a carry in his rookie season, but converted 89 rush attempts into 377 yards (4.2 YPC) and a touchdown in six games with the Lions in 2019. The problem is Scarbrough just doesn’t offer anything as a receiver, catching one-of-four targets for five scoreless yards on the season. Scarbrough’s best-case scenario seems to be as a lead early-down back (think Carlos Hyde) on a team willing to run the ball between the tackles upwards of 20 times a game. Still, these limitations as a receiver will make it problematic in him ever securing a true workhorse role, something that won’t be available in Detroit next season with Kerryon Johnson healthy.

Bo Scarbrough spanned 34 yards on eight carries Sunday in the Lions’ Week 16 loss to Denver.
He had missed the previous game with injured ribs. Scarbrough got loose for an 18-yard run in the third quarter, but was otherwise a non-factor, averaging a lackluster 2.29 yards per carry on his other seven attempts. He drew the start over Kerryon Johnson, but ultimately saw fewer touches. Per usual, the Lions made no effort to involve him in the passing game. Scarbrough’s next test will come against the Packers in Week 16. Kerryon’s return from IR saps whatever remaining fantasy value Scarbrough may have had.

Bo Scarbrough (ribs) is active for Week 16 against the Broncos.
Scarbrough’s rib injury only cost him a game. His days of workhorse usage are over with Kerryon Johnson (knee) back from injured reserve. Those two will work in tandem against the Broncos. OG Caleb Benenoch, CB Mike Ford, RB Wes Hills, CB Michael Jackson, DT Jamie Meder, DT A’Shawn Robinson and OT Rick Wagner will not be in uniform for the Lions on Sunday.
