Bears signed DE Chauncey Davis, formerly of the Falcons.
The long-time Falcon and reserve pass rusher was one of Atlanta’s final cuts. He appeared in all 16 games a season ago, tallying 24 tackles, a sack and an interception. Davis worked out for the Patriots and Lions before being signed by the Bears.

    Bears released DE Chauncey Davis.
Davis reportedly put together a strong camp at age 29, but the Bears are going young along the defensive line. It looks like both Corey Wootton and Cheta Ozougwu are sticking.

The Chicago Tribune suggests DE Corey Wootton will have to hold off Chauncey Davis and Cheta Ozougwu for a roster spot this summer.
Fully recovered from a broken hand that limited him last season, the 2010 fourth-rounder Wootton is as healthy as he’s been in the NFL. Wootton has dropped his body/fat to 11 percent so he’ll be able to “run all day” in training camp.

Falcons signed DL Chauncey Davis, a fourth-round pick, to a three-year, $1.2 million contract.
The deal included a $300,000 signing bonus. He could be in the mix for playing time while Brady Smith recovers from injury.

Jamaal Anderson could be eased into the Falcons’ starting left defensive end job, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Anderson worked behind Chauncey Davis during the offseason. He is raw, but we fully expect the first-round pick to claim a starting gig early in the year.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #91
Jamaal Anderson worked behind Chauncey Davis as the Falcons’ left defensive end at offseason workouts.
Davis is still likely to be a run-stopping third defensive end once the season begins. The Falcons are trying to develop Anderson, who registered 13.5 sacks as a junior at Arkansas, in defending the run game.

First-round rookie Jamaal Anderson was inserted as the starting left defensive end on Sunday.
His promotion pushes Chauncey Davis to the second unit. Anderson has been very impressive in camp and is a great selection in dynasty IDP leagues.

Falcons DL Chauncey Davis has settled in as the team’s third end.
Davis is behind rookie Jamaal Anderson on the left side. The 2005 fourth-round pick will see action during the season as a situational run stopper.
