Five-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney decommits from Louisville

Joshua C. Cruey/Orlando Sentinel

After committing to Louisville and head coach Rick Pitino in early September, five-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney has decommitted from Louisville.’s Reggie Rankin first reported the Blakeney decommitment and the Florida native confirmed it on Twitter:

Rated No. 13 overall in the 2015 class by Rivals, Blakeney committed to Louisville on September 4th and gave the Cardinals a four-man class that was among the best 2015 groups in the country.

Blakeney averaged just over 25 points and five rebounds per game as a junior at Oak Ridge HS in Orlando, Florida, and he played his summer basketball for the Each 1 Teach 1 program. During Nike EYBL play Blakeney averaged 19.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

The final six in Blakeney’s recruiting process was Louisville, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Oregon and USC.

Rick Pitino’s Cardinals still have commitments from point guard Donovan Mitchell, small forward Deng Adel and forward Raymond Spalding, but it’s doubtful they’ll want to re-recruit Blakeney after this latest incident.
