MAC’s East teams have owned West counterparts for years
Imbalance, tho art MAC basketball.
Last week was the starkest example yet of the conference’s East division running roughshod over the West. It swept the West teams (12-0) and improved to 21-3 this season. That’s absurd. It’s also apparently not new.
Hustle Belt, a MAC blog, ran the numbers for just how dominant the East has been since 2007. (It used that timeframe because Marshall was still in the MAC and Bowling Green was in the West.)Check this:
- 2012 (in-progress): East 21, West 3
- 2011: East 34, West 11
- 2010: East 30, West 11
- 2009: East 32, West 7
- 2008: East 25, West 15
- 2007: East 37, West 13
Hustle Belt also includes breakdowns for each team’s performance and additional notes. It’s good stuff.
Finally, if Miami doesn’t stink the rest of the year, the East will set a new record for dominance. Seems like it’s in the bag.
