Two Florida players arrested on felony burglary charges

Florida players Cody Larson and Erik Murphy are out on bond after they allegedly broke into a car early Sunday morning in St. Augustine, Fla., according to a report from News4jax.com.

Larson, a freshman forward, and Murphy, a sophomore forward, face felony burglary charges. A third man, Joshua Abel, was charged with principal to burglary, the report said. Police say Abel told them he was a team manager and was serving as a lookout. From the Web site:

Investigators said Larson and Murphy went into Scarlett O’Hara’s Bar and Restaurant around 2 a.m. Sunday and claimed to have lost a wallet. They said the men tried to get close to an employee who was counting money from the night.

Bouncers then told Larson and Murphy to leave and a few minutes later, they saw the men breaking into a co-worker’s car in a parking lot across the street, according to police.

The school has not released a statement.

Both figure to play key roles for the Gators next season, as Florida loses its three frontcourt starters from this season’s 29-8 squad. If they’re around. Larson had received word from coach Billy Donovan that any future issues could have “severe” consequences.
