    Jets released P Thomas Morstead.

Austin McNamara and Kai Kroeger will compete for the Jets punter job this year. The 39-year-old former Saint was the league’s oldest punter last season. If he wants to keep punting, he can absolutely join the tryout circuit or a competition elsewhere. But this is probably a sign that Morstead’s 16-year career is close to an end at this point.

Jets signed P Austin McNamara, formerly of the Bengals.

McNamara went undrafted last year and signed with the Bengals as a UDFA. The team cut him early in training and he didn’t play in 2024. McNamara will compete with Thomas Morstead for a roster spot this summer.

Texas Tech received a verbal commitment from three-star 2019 P Austin McNamara.

McNamara is rated the top punter in the country, and while he plays a position that doesn’t typically see a ton of recruitment, he had offers from some big-name schools like Nebraska, Missouri, Arizona State and several others. It shouldn’t be a surprise if the 6-foot-4, 165-pound punter competes for the starting job immediately for the Red Raiders.
