Dolphins claimed QB Cam Miller, formerly of the Raiders.
Miller became a bit of a dynasty darling after the Raiders drafted him in the sixth round last April. The former North Dakota State passer was on two FCS national championship squads and earned first-team FCS All-American honors in 2024. We do not expect Miller to steal the Dolphins’ starting job, but bringing him aboard makes sense for a team that is searching for long-term answers at the position. At the very least, he can serve as a functional contributor in training camp and the preseason.

Raiders signed QB Cam Miller to their practice squad.
Miller finished with a 38.8 PFF offense grade for his 80 preseason snaps at quarterback. It would be surprising if the Raiders turned to him at any point this season, but perhaps he can take a step forward and show more next preseason. Also joining the Las Vegas practice squad are: WR Alex Bachman, RB Chris Collier, S Terrell Edmunds, DE Jahfari Harvey, WR Shedrick Jackson, LB Matt Jones, DT Treven Ma’ae, G Atonio Mafi, TE Albert Okwuegbunam Jr., TE Carter Runyon, WR Justin Shorter, OL Laki Tasi, S Trey Taylor, CB Greedy Vance, T Dalton Wagner and S JT Woods.

    Raiders waived QB Cam Miller.
Miller was the Raiders’ sixth-round pick, and it seems very likely that the signal-caller will be back with Las Vegas on their practice squad. Tommy Mellott — a former college quarterback who is making the move to wide receiver — was also part of the cuts for the Raiders. The full list of players who won’t make the 53-man roster: aived DT Zach Carter, RB Chris Collier, DE Jahfari Harvey, WR Shedrick Jackson, LB Matt Jones, DT Treven Ma’ae, G Atonio Mafi, RB Sincere McCormick, DE Ovie Oghoufo, TE Carter Runyon, WR Justin Shorter, OL Laki Tasi, S Trey Taylor, CB Greedy Vance, T Dalton Wagner and S JT Woods, WR Alex Bachman, S Terrell Edmunds and TE Albert Okwuegbunam while Lonnie Johnson Jr. was placed on the injured list and designated for return.
  • LV Running Back
Raiders signed No. 6 overall pick RB Ashton Jeanty to a four-year contract.
Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Jeanty’s deal is fully guaranteed and worth more than $35.89 million. It comes with a $22.7 million signing bonus. Jeanty could compete for the league lead in touches as a rookie, putting him squarely in the RB1 ranks. The Raiders also signed third-round OG Caleb Rogers, sixth-round QB Cam Miller and seventh-round LB Cody Lindenberg.
  • LV Quarterback #7
Raiders selected NDSU QB Cam Miller with the No. 215 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Raiders add Miller (6'1/215) to a quarterback room with Geno Smith and Aidan O’Connell leading the way. He is a two-time FCS champion with NDSU and set a school record with 9,720 career passing yards. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler describes Miller as “an intelligent game manager who takes what the defense gives him.” He’s a smaller-statured quarterback, but Brugler says he has good decision-making and feel for the position. Miller will be a reserve quarterback for the Raiders to start out his NFL career.
  • MIA Quarterback #15
North Dakota State QB Cam Miller completed 9-13 passes for 126 yards and touchdown in the 38-10 win over Montana State in the FCS National Championship.
The Bison are the premier team in the FCS as they claimed their ninth title in 11 years. This was not even a close contest as the team scored the first 35 points of this game. Miller (6'1"/208) did not need to do much today as the Bison dominated on the ground with 380 rushing yards. NDSU switched between Miller, as he was used as a conventional pocket passer, and Quincy Patterson, who was swapped in to run the RPO. Miller only attempted 13 passes, but he was efficient with was nine completions, and one of those was when Montana State committed to stopping the run, which left Josh Babicz with absolutely no one near him, and he could stroll in for the 35-yard touchdown. As Alabama looks to continue its dominance in the FBS, we already saw that today in FCS.
