    Bears signed WR Devin Duvernay.
Duvernay provides wide receiver depth and will likely compete for a special teams role as a returner. He is not fantasy-relevant. The Bears also signed LS Scott Daly, placed DL Austin Booker on injured reserve with a designation to return, waived LB Carl Jones Jr., signed TE Nikola Kalinic, DB Dontae Manning and S Gervarrius Owens to the practice squad while releasing LS Luke Elkin and DB Mekhi Garner.
  • BAL Linebacker #48
According to Mike Regalado of BruinReportOnline.com, UCLA freshman DB Carl Jones spent some of Thursday’s practice working with LB coach Don Pellum.
Jones (6'0/198) was recruited to UCLA as a safety, but injuries have led to him getting some action at inside linebacker during fall camp. Tyree Thompson recently underwent foot surgery and will miss the start of the season, with that leading to Lokeni Toailoa and Kyrs Barnes moving up on the depth chart. Whether or not Jones sees action at linebacker remains to be seen, but at the very least the coaching staff is preparing the freshman for that possibility.
  • BAL Linebacker #48
UCLA received a verbal commitment from three-star 2019 S Carl Jones.
Jones (6'1/195) committed to Colorado over the summer and held true to that pledge up until the weather started to chill. He back off his pledge on Tuesday, with Mike MacIntyre’s firing playing a role in his decision to reopen his recruitment. Just two days later, the Bakersfield, California, native has found a new home for the future. Rivals ranks Jones as the No. 89 prospect in the state of California for the 2019 cycle.
