    Packers waived LB Jamon Johnson.

The Packers also waived TE McCallan Castles and CB Tyron Herring. Johnson and Herring were 2025 undrafted free agents. Castles was an undrafted free agent the year prior. Johnson logged defensive snaps in three games late last season, totaling three solo tackles, one TFL, one quarterback pressure and one forced incompletion. Herring and Castles never took the field on defense or offense.

Packers signed K Lucas Havrisik, OT Brant Banks, DL Dante Barnett, OG Karsen Barnhart, DL Anthony Campbell, TE McCallan Castles, OT Dalton Cooper, TE Drake Dabney, DL James Ester, CB Tyron Herring, LB Jamon Johnson, RB Damien Martinez, S Mark Perry, WR Will Sheppard, RB Pierre Strong Jr. and TE Messiah Swinson to reserve/futures contracts.

Havrisik hit 4-of-4 field goals and 7-of-9 extra points this year, and the Packers seemed to be developing him as kicker of the future — whatever that means in the NFL — while letting him stay on the practice squad. With Brandon McManus’ job officially under scrutiny, it’s possible he eventually gets the Packers kicker gig.

Eagles signed Tennessee TE McCallan Castles.

A journeyman in college, Castles (6’5/252) started his career with California, redshirting his first year and transferring to UC Davis after two seasons. He caught 12 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns in his first season as an Aggie, earning All-Big Sky honors in a season shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic and played in Spring 2021. Castles transferred to Tennessee for his final season of eligibility, catching 22 passes for 283 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. Castles has an outside shot of making the Eagles final roster this season, perhaps as a special teamer.

Former Cal redshirt sophomore TE McCallan Castles transferred to UC-Davis.

Castles (6'5/230) was unable to find much playing time in his two years with the Golden Bears, and entered the transfer portal in September. Since he’s moving to below the FBS level, he’ll be eligible to play in 2020 without the need of a waiver from the NCAA.

The Daily Californian’s Josh Yuen reports that Cal redshirt freshman TE McCallan Castles entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday and has left the Cal program.

Expected to play a role in the Golden Bears’ offense this fall, things did not turn out for Castles. Castles (6'5/230) was named a starter prior to the opener, but lost a lot of playing time to redshirt sophomores Jake Tonges and Gavin Reinwald almost immediately. As such, Castles did not record a single catch as a Golden Bear this season. Be on the look out for Castles to find a new program in the coming weeks.

The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel passes along that Cal redshirt freshman TE McCallan Castles could play a role in the fall campaign.

Castles (6'5/230) enrolled at Cal as a three-star recruit (some outlets had him as a four-star) in the 2018 class. In a three-game cameo last season, he caught one pass for 15 yards before ultimately taking a redshirt for the campaign. Castles will be competing for playing time with Jake Tonges and Collin Moore in August camp. At this juncture, Gavin Reinwald looks to be in position to start upcoming.
