With the end of spring practice on the horizon, Al Golden has made some adjustments to his Miami coaching staff.
Monday, Golden announced promotions/new titles for a pair of his Hurricane assistant coaches, Larry Scott (pictured, green shirt) and Kareem Brown. The former, who had been tight ends coach, will retain that job as well as add the title of running-game coordinator. The latter, meanwhile, will serve as the outside linebackers coach and will direct the team’s nickel package; Brown had been a graduate assistant who helped out with the defensive line.
“I’m very excited to move Larry into the position of Run Game Coordinator,” Golden said in a statement. “He’s done outstanding job at every level he has coached. He’s a leader, a teacher and most importantly he has the respect of our student-athletes. ...
“As a former player, who defined toughness here at Miami, I could not think of a better person to direct our outside linebacker corps than Kareem Brown. I love his energy and passion for our program and I know he will be able to further convey what it means to be a Miami Hurricane to our players.”
Scott will be entering his third season with the ‘Canes, while Brown just completed his first season at his alma mater.
Miami will put the finishing touches on its set of 15 practice sessions March 28.
