Case dropped against two Miami players following arrest

On Wednesday night two Miami football players -- offensive linemen Trevor Darling and Jahair Jones -- were arrested for resisting an officer without violence after refusing to move out of a road where they were impeding traffic. It did not take long for the legal case against one player to be dropped, and the other should see a similar fate.

The Miami Herald reports Jones had his case dropped after appearing in a misdemeanor bond court on Thursday. Darling has yet to appear in a court regarding the case and a court date has not been scheduled. He is expected to also have the case dropped.

The reasoning behind the decision to drop the case, or cases, is due to what is being described as a legally insufficient arrest form. The wrong legal terminology was used on the form, thus giving reason to toss the charge out. The two were facing first-degree misdemeanor charges from their arrest.

With the cases being tossed out, there should be no change to their status with the Miami program expected.
