Duke looks to be at a disadvantage this weekend when the Blue Devils take on Georgia Tech in an important ACC Coastal Division game. Starting defensive end Dezmond Johnson will miss another game due to a leg injury. So will flexible defensive lineman Jamal Wallace, who is out with a lower-body injury.
Wallace was listed second on the team’s depth chart, behind Carlos Wray at defensive tackle, but he can play any position on the line. With Johnson out for a third straight game and Wallace unavailable, Duke will have to be restricted to a four-man rotation at defensive end, according to The News & Observer.
The injuries up front on the Duke defense seem to be an advantage for Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech’s offensive style is fueled by a running game that is designed to wear down opposing defenses. Without a pair of linemen, Duke’s defensive line could wear down a little easier this weekend against the Yellow Jackets.
No. 22 Georgia Tech (5-0, 2-0 ACC) hosts Duke (4-1, 0-1 ACC) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
