Eligibility issue, not injury, kept Dez out of game

In the days leading up to Oklahoma State’s game with Grambling State, it was widely reported that wide receiver Dez Bryant was suffering from a hamstring issue and would be held out of the game due to the injury.

As it turns out, head coach Mike Gundy apparently graduated with honors from the NFL School of Injury Report Massaging at some point before coming to Stillwater.

According to the Daily Oklahoman, Bryant missed the game not because of injury as stated in the postgame notes, but because of his ongoing eligibility issue.

Bryant was suspended by the school on Oct. 7 after he admitted he lied to the NCAA about a relationship with Deion Sanders. OSU learned of the issue before the GSU game, and held him out. The Cowboys had a bye the following weekend, and Bryant was suspended the week after that.

Yesterday, Bryant met with NCAA officials in Indianapolis as he and OSU began the reinstatement process in earnest.
