Former K-State QB/WR Daniel Sams transfers to McNeese State

According to ESPN.com’s Jake Trotter, former Kansas State quarterback-turned-wideout Daniel Sams will drop down a level and transfer to FCS side McNeese State.

Sams informed K-State of his decision to transfer earlier this month following a switch from quarterback to wide receiver in the spring. As a quarterback in 2013, Sams completed 38 of 53 passes for 452 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions, though his greatest impact came with his legs: 152 carries, 807 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The move to wide receiver apparently didn’t suit Sams well, though, as he wanted to transfer so he could play quarterback again. Playing close to his Slidell, La., home was important as well, and McNeese State is located about three hours away.

K-State fans disappointed to see Sams go can at least take a consolation prize: Sams and McNeese State open the 2014 season at Nebraska, and could possibly see one of their own serve up some tasty schadenfreude in late August.
