Two weeks into summer camp, Kansas officially has a new starting quarterback.
Head coach Turner Gill released his latest Jayhawks depth chart Thursday afternoon, and Kale Pick was listed as the No. 1 QB. Pick had been battling redshirt freshman Jordan Webb during the half of camp after emerging from spring practice as the favorites to replace Todd Reesing.
In Gill’s mind, it was time to pick a starter at the position and move forward.
“Kale Pick is definitely the guy who has earned the position,” Gill said. “And all along I’ve said once we felt that a guy has earned it, then it’s time.”
As a redshirt freshman in 2009, Pick completed 4-of-5 passes for 22 yards, and also rushed for 182 yards on 14 attempts.
