Kentucky LB Jason Hatcher suspended for two games

A violation of team rules has led to another suspension for Kentucky linebacker Jason Hatcher. Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops announced Saturday Stoops has been suspended for the first two games of the 2015 season due to an unspecified violation of team rules.

Kentucky’s first two games of the season are at home against Louisiana-Lafayette and on the road against SEC East foe South Carolina. Hatcher was not on hand for Kentucky’s media day event on Friday, with the school saying he was unavailable due to an academic obligation according to The Courier-Journal. Hatcher did practice with the team on Saturday though and Stoops expects him to play a key role on the defense this season.

“Jason has worked extremely hard,” Stoops said. “He has put himself in a position to help this team.”

Putting himself in a position to be suspended for two games would suggest otherwise, but we’ll let that one from Stoops slide.

Hatcher was suspended in 2013 for a violation of team rules and was disciplined internally last season after a marijuana possession charge was dropped.
