The collegiate portion of Leonard Fournette‘s playing career has officially come to an end.
At a press conference Friday afternoon, the running back announced that he will not play in LSU’s Citrus Bowl matchup with Louisville Dec. 31. Fournette had previously announced that he would be entering the 2017 NFL draft, but would try to play in the bowl game.
Fournette has been dealing with an ankle injury throughout the 2016 season that caused him to miss a few games and limited him in a handful of others. Now, the likely first-round pick will shift his focus to rehabbing that issue and preparing himself for the draft.
After rushing for nearly 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns a year ago, the lingering injury helped limit him to 843 and eight this season.
