If you’re a decided underdog on the field, what are you going to do? Eat like a big dog off of it.
Bethune-Cookman entered Saturday’s game against Nebraska as anywhere from a 45- to 48-point underdog, depending on the sportsbook. In fact, some wagering establishments wouldn’t even take bets on the game.
At some point in the second quarter of what turned into a 38-3 halftime lead for the ‘Huskers in Lincoln, someone from the FCS football staff -- likely an assistant coach -- ordered a Runza sandwich from a vendor... on the sidelines... during the game.
A Bethune Cookman coach just bought a Runza on the sideline! The vendor kid was so confused! #Huskers #GBR @Sean_Callahan @RobinWashut

Per Wikipedia, a runza “is a yeast dough bread pocket with a filling consisting of beef, cabbage or sauerkraut, onions, and seasonings.” While Nebraska doesn’t have an official state food, the runza would likely be considered an unofficial one. According to the same website, "[t]he term ‘runza’ is registered as a trademark in the United States by Nebraska-based Runza restaurants.”
As for the game, quarterback Adrian Martinez passed for 213 yards in the first half to give him 1,656 passing yards in 2018, setting a single-season Nebraska freshman record for passing yards in less than eight games. And, as of this posting, the Cornhuskers still hold that same 38-3 lead after three quarters of play.
