Well that certainly didn’t take long.
Just three days after announcing he would be transferring from Alabama, Luke Del Rio has found a new collegiate home, with Oregon State confirming in a release that the quarterback has signed a financial aid agreement with the school.
Because of NCAA transfer rules, Del Rio will be forced to sit out the 2014 season. He will, however, be permitted to practice with the team, including the spring sessions that begin in late March.
“We are very excited that Luke has chosen to join the Oregon State Football program,” head coach Mike Riley said in a statement. “He is an exceptional young man and will be a great representative of Beaver Nation on and off the field.”
Del Rio was a three-star member of the Tide’s 2013 recruiting class, rated as the No. 28 pro-style quarterback in the country and the No. 3 player at any position in the state of Colorado. He took a redshirt as a true freshman, so he’ll have three years of eligibility after sitting out this season.
