As first reported by the Washington Post, ex-Redskins QB coach Matt LaFleur will join Brian Kelly’s staff at Notre Dame in the same role.
Notre Dame needed a QB coach after offensive coordinator Chuck Martin left to take the head coaching job at Miami (Ohio) in December. The Irish are expected to announce Mike Denbrock as the team’s offensive coordinator to fill the other half of Martin’s role.
LaFleur spent the last four seasons coaching, among others, Robert Griffin with the Washington Redskins. He served as an offensive assistant under Kelly in 2004 and 2005 at Central Michigan, and also spent two years as an offensive quality control assistant with the Houston Texans.
LaFleur will have plenty of talent to work with in South Bend, with Everett Golson returning to school this semester, Malik Zaire shedding his redshirt and four-star recruit DeShone Kizer entering the fold as well
