Michigan RB Derrick Green drops weight, feels more explosive

Since coming to campus at 240 pounds last summer, Michigan running back Derrick Green has shed weight and feels poised to live up to the hype.

Green, rated by Rivals as the nation’s top running back and eighth-best player in the recruiting class of 2013, is back down to 220 pounds -- his high school playing weight. At 22o, he feels faster and more explosive and doesn’t think he sacrificed any of the bruising power on which he made his name.

“I feel faster, stronger,” Green said, via MLive.com. “My body just feels a lot better than it did last season.”

In 2013, Green had 83 carries for 270 yards and two touchdowns, but should see a spike in carries with Fitz Toussaint’s eligibility exhausted.
