With one of its top offensive linemen still sidelined, Michigan State was purveyor of some positive trench news Saturday evening.
In the run-up to the start of the of the MSU-Rutgers game in Piscataway Saturday night, Spartan officials confirmed that Kodi Kieler (pictured, No. 79) will start at left tackle against the Scarlet Knights. Kieler had been sidelined since sustaining an injury in the Week 2 win over Oregon.
Kieler will start in place of Jack Conklin, who was injured a couple of weeks ago against Central Michigan. Conklin missed last Saturday’s win over Purdue as well.
Kieler has started 10 games at right tackle, eight in 2014 as a redshirt sophomore and two prior to his injury in 2015.
