Michigan, Utah announce home-and-home

Following weeks of speculation, Michigan and Utah have formally announced a home-and-home series.

Utah will go on the road first to Ann Arbor in 2014 with the Wolverines returning the favor in 2015 for what will be Michigan’s first-ever Thursday night game.

“A home-and-home series with Michigan is the kind of opportunity that comes with membership in the Pac-12 Conference,” said Utah athletic director Chris Hill. “I greatly appreciate Coach Whittingham’s willingness to add college football’s winningest program to his already difficult 2014 schedule, which will also feature five Pac-12 road games.”

The two squads have met twice before, in 2002 and 2008, and the all-times series is tied at one win a piece. The last meeting in ’08 saw Utah beat Michigan 25-23.

In other Michigan scheduling news, the Wolverines will also host Appalachian State (LOL!!!!) in 2014 and will take a two-year hiatus from the rivalry with Notre Dame in 2018 and ’19.
