Mike London confirms on Twitter that he’s joined Terps staff

Earlier this week it was reported that new Maryland head coach D.J. Durkin had added a former FBS head coach to his new Terps coaching staff. As it turns out, he’s added another.

While the school has yet to announce it, Mike London took to Twitter Wednesday afternoon to reveal that he is “blessed to become apart [sic] of the [Terps] family.” London didn’t reveal his responsibilities, although it’s been reported that London will serve as defensive line coach as well as hold the title of associate head coach.

London “resigned” late last month after six years as the head coach at Virginia. The 55-year-old London has deep ties in Maryland’s recruiting footprint, having spent a total of 12 seasons at UVa. as well as six seasons in three separate stints at Richmond.

It was reported Tuesday evening that Scott Shafer, fired as Syracuse’s head coach late last month, will be named as the Terps’ defensive coordinator.

UPDATED 2:29 p.m. ET: Speaking of Shafer, the former ‘Cuse head coach indicated on Twitter that he too is a part of Durkin’s staff.
