Munchie Legaux suffers gruesome injury against Illinois

Things went from bad to worse for Cincinnati on Saturday as Bearcats quarterback Munchie Legaux suffered a gruesome knee injury in the fourth quarter of its game against Illinois.

Already down 31-17 against the Illini with almost 10 minutes to play, Legaux dropped back for a third-down pass -- which was incomplete -- and was rolled under by Illinois defensive lineman Tim Kynard.

It was not pretty. Legaux’s knee went one way and his body went the other.

A hush came over the Champaign crowd as a cart was brought out for the senior quarterback, who was 17 of 31 for 237 yards and one touchdown with one interception before the injury (he also had 52 yards rushing). By the looks of it, we may not see Legaux for the rest of the season.

Illinois immediately capitalized, returning the ensuing punt 38 yards before punching in another score to go up 38-17.

Brendon Kay, who did a good job backing up Legaux last year, took over the reins at quarterback for the Bearcats.
