Nearly 80,000 show up for Auburn’s national title celebration

With roughly 78,000 fans packing into Jordan-Hare Stadium, you’d think that Auburn was getting ready for another Saturday of SEC football.

As it turns out, they were celebrating the victory of one game -- the BCS National Championship.

Cam Newton, Nick Fairley, coach Gene Chizik and Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley were among those who spoke to the crowd.

In particular, Newton struck the Heisman pose and thanked the fans for standing by him in one of college football’s biggest story of the year.

Furthermore, I don’t care what anybody says about fan support in the SEC/Big Ten. Seventy-eight thousand fans at a celebration is freakishly awesome.
